Pre-Piercing Advice
Eat beforehand: Make sure you have eaten a proper meal and are well-hydrated before your appointment to avoid feeling faint.
Avoid alcohol and blood thinners: Refrain from drinking alcohol or taking medications like aspirin 24 hours before your piercing, as they can thin the blood.
Arrive clean: Shower and clean the area to be pierced on the day of your appointment. Wear clean, comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the piercing area.
Be healthy: Postpone your appointment if you are feeling unwell, fighting an infection, or if your immune system is compromised.
Know what you want: Research piercing placement and jewellery choices beforehand. We'll always discuss your options during the appointment too.
Bring ID: If you are under 18, you may need a parent or guardian present depending on the piercing and local regulations.
Post-Piercing Aftercare
Clean daily: Clean the piercing twice a day using a sterile saline solution or a professional piercing aftercare spray. Gently dab — do not twist or rotate the jewellery.
Hands off: Avoid touching your piercing with unwashed hands. Only touch it when cleaning.
No makeup or skincare products: Keep lotions, creams, and makeup away from the piercing area during healing.
Avoid swimming: Refrain from swimming in pools, hot tubs, lakes, and the sea until the piercing is fully healed to avoid infection.
Be mindful of clothing: Avoid tight or irritating clothing that could rub against a new piercing.
Don’t remove jewellery early: Keep your initial jewellery in place throughout the healing process. Removing it too soon can cause the hole to close.
Be patient: Healing times vary — cartilage and dermal piercings often take longer than lobe piercings. Healing can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 12 months, depending on the location.
Look out for issues: Slight redness and swelling are normal at first, but if you notice excessive pain, swelling, discharge, or warmth, contact us or seek medical advice.
